The best craigslist deal yet

You probably know by now that Rob is addicted to finding deals on craigslist. If not, you can read about here and here and here (or here). You get the picture. But this could possibly be Rob's greatest craigslist deal yet. Read on.

Recently, I posted about our plans to make the attic bedroom into an art and music studio. Here's the floor plan that I had mocked up:

You can see in the image above that I had designated a music recording area for Rob using an L-shaped desk. I gave myself a similar set-up near the stairs. I kind of hoped we could purchase Ikea Galant desks for this space since I already had one Galant desk for my painting area (shown here):

And they do make corner shaped Galant desks, so my vision was at least somewhat plausible. I mentioned this to Rob, and he got to work craigslistin' (like he does). He found a small business in Minnetonka that was unfortunately closing but selling all of their office furniture. They had three corner Galant desks in birch color (matches the desk we already have), two extension pieces, and some protective leather desk covers. Their asking price was too good to be true. We jumped on it and bought the whole set, even though we might not need 3 desks. But here's the low down on what we got:

Three Galant corner desks with T-legs (regularly priced $250 each):

Two extension pieces with frame (regularly priced $60 each):

Two black faux-leather desk pads (regularly priced at $30 each):

Total value for everything = $930.
Guess what we paid? Are you ready? $120.
Wow, huh?
Yes, I'm excited.
It was perhaps the first time that Rob didn't try to hustle for a lower price. It was already too good to be true.

Like I said, we aren't sure that we even need that many desk surfaces, but we couldn't pass up such a good deal. We can always re-sell one of the desks if we determine we don't need it. I thanked the business owner a lot for giving us such a good deal. He said he was just trying to clean the office out as quick as possible, so he was pricing things to sell. At least we got to help out a little by buying some of his old stuff. And he of course is helping us out in a big way.

Here's everything loaded in the back of the truck (which we also bought from a craigslister, incidentally):

And now for something fun, we were 15 minutes early to our meeting with the business owner, so we goofed around in the parking lot and snapped some pics.

If it's true that a person is only as old as they act, I think we'll be young forever.

When we start putting our studio together, I will be sure to update. In the meantime, happy deal hunting and feel free to comment if you have an unbeatable craigslist score to report.

Actually the guy had originally priced it at $125.00, but I could not get five dollar bills from the cash machine, hustle commenced, it went for $120.

Great find- I'm sure you'll be able to create an amazing office oaisis with all of those matching pieces!

I must say that I've been having some great luck on Craigslist the past few months... I bought a ten foot wide IKEA wardrobe with doors for $500 and a Pottery Barn table with six chairs for $200.) I didn't haggle at all over the PB table/ chairs!
